Michael Isaac Stein
Hello! I'm Michael, a passionate and award-winning journalist primarily working as an investigative reporter based in New Orleans. I was a staff reporter for local publications The Lens, Verite News and the local NPR member station WWNO. When I had spare time I also freelanced for national publications including The Nation, The Intercept, NPR, The New Republic and Bloomberg.
While primarily a writer, I'm also a photojournalist, audio producer and video editor. I'm a seasoned investigator/researcher — skilled at obtaining public records, accessing archives, analyzing data, tracking sources and finding creative ways to answer whatever question may be at hand. And I am experienced in data analytics and using tools such as QGIS and R.
I recently returned to school and obtained a graduate degree in Integrative Plant Sciences from Cornell University.
